Watermarks, Headers, and Footers

1. To copy the image (click on the image and hold until a pull down menu comes up then go down to “copy this image” a release) from a webpage or a clip art library.

2. Launch an Appleworks Paint document. Past the image in the document. Be sure to bring it in as an image. (Click on the red tool box in the left hand corner then click on the mouse pointer and click EDIT-PASTE.)


3. We need to lighten up are image so it is easier to read the words so to do this we are going to click on the paint bucket in the tool bar.

4. To choose your color go down to the color menu in the tool bar are the bottom. (Hint: you want to choose the same color as what your original picture is but a lighter shade of that color. So if it’s black choose gray)

5. Click on part of the image that you want to be the color your chose (it should change to the color you picked). It may leave behind a little section that you will have to click on individually.

6. Click on the text tool on the tool bar.
7. To choose your color go to text then text color and choose your color. (Hint: choose a darker color so it will show up.)



8. Click on your image where you want the text to be a begin to type what you want it to say. (Hint: to make it larger highlight it and go to text at the top of you screen then down to size and select your size.)

9. Your final product should appear like this.


Headers and Footers

Headers and footers are areas in the top and bottom margins of each page in a document. Either text or graphics can be inserted in headers and footers in most word processors. When you insert a header or footer what ever is placed in them will appear on every page of your document.

1. To insert a header go to format at the top of the screen then to the bottom to "Insert Header".

2. To insert a footer go to the format menu and then click on "Insert Footer" which is right below Insert header.

3. To insert a page number in the footer go under edit then "Insert Page Number".

4. You can insert the date, time, or page number by going under the edit menu.
