Converting Kidspiration Documents to a Web Page
Adding a Link: You may want to add URL links to your document. These might be good web sites for more information or return links to another web page. Go to “Teacher” in the menu bar and “Enable Teacher Menu”. Highlight the text you wish to make active and go up to the Menu Bar, click on “Teacher”, drag down and highlight Internet/URL Hyperlink.

A pop up window will appear. Enter the URL of the site you wish to link to. This address must be correct.

Tips:
    •Be sure that the text size is large enough to read (14 pt or larger)
    •Bold face the main idea and/or headings
    •Use colors to “liven up” the document, especially in the text or boxes.
    •Do a spell check!!
    •Make sure grammar, punctuation and capitalization is correct.

Now, if everything looks the way that you want it to look, it is ready to convert or “export” your document to a web page. Go to “File” in the Menu bar, click and Highlight “Export”. When you release the mouse, the “Export” window will appear. Click in the button by HTML to create a web page. You will be prompted to select a location to save to (such as the desktop, hard drive or your folder). Select where you wish to save. Two documents will appear (an html document and a gif document). You will need both. You can view the html document by launching Netscape or Explorer and doing a “File: Open Page”.



If you feel more comfortable working with basic HTML in Simple Text, use these steps:
    1. Launch Netscape and click on "File" and Highlight "Open Page". Select your document. It will now be opened as a web page.

    2. While viewing your page in Netscape, go to "View" and highlight "Page Source". This will show you your page with all of the HTML commands in place. Do a "Select All" (Apple "A") and “Copy” (Apple "C").

    3. Launch "Simple Text" and paste the copied text onto a new document.

    4. Save this document with the same name as the other one so that this one will replace the previous one.
