MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

EAST BUCHANAN MENTORING is a
program designed to impact students who are
below their peer group in a certain area or areas,
either academically or socially. Individual students
are paired one-to-one with a volunteer who reads
with them, plays games with them, or just talks
to them, in a caring and supportive manner.

2007-2008 Mentors:

Why: Will help children: Enjoy the learning process
Develop self esteem Develop emotional maturity
through a nurturing relationship

Who and Where: Volunteers are recruited and
spend time with a child in school during school time.

Qualifications: Cheerful and cooperative attitude.
Ability and desire to work with children. PATIENCE!!

When: Mentoring volunteers will be scheduled
for a day and time that is convenient for them
and corresponds to the student's school schedule.

Time Commitment: Once a week for 30 minutes.

How: Volunteers will be assigned a student and will
work with that student each week for at least
30 minutes. The program is designed so that
volunteers meet with that same student each week,
thus forming a supportive relationship.

Training: Minimal training is required.
