We have found that, to help children develop organizational skills at
school and at home, it is often beneficial to color code their folders and
materials. This helps a child identify the proper subject matter
folder/notebook needed at one time. If all subjects are assigned a
particular color of folder/notebook, their desks are more likely to remain
neat and tidy and students are more likely to know where their materials
are. In addition, if the same color is assigned to a subjects folder
as well as the notebook needed for that subject, students will be able to
take home and keep track of the proper materials.
Hopefully, this idea will develop organizational skills which will be
reflected in the home as well. this will help you, the parent, to better
assist your child in developing these organizational skills because the
color coding system will make it easy for you too! So, as you consider
purchasing school supplies this summer, we highly recommend that you
purchase the colored folders and notebooks listed for the grade levels
which apply below. PLEASE - DO NOT MARK THE FOLDERS IN ADVANCE
teachers will have specific instructions for students.

Please do not buy the backpacks with wheels as these are too heavy for the students to carry on their backs and do not work out well to hang on the hooks that we have in our cubbies.
