The Quasqueton Area Historical Society was founded by a group of interested citizens in 1988. In February 1989, the Bank building, where we are now located, was purchased. This building is the only original building that remains from the Brick Block, a row of brick buildings on Main Street, after fires destroyed the rest of the buildings in 1947 and 1982.

Extensive work has been done on the building, including a new roof, windows and tuck pointing. Refinishing of the tin ceiling, wiring, and painting have made the first story nearly complete. The floor in the south half of the building was replaced in 2005 and the floor in the North half was refinished in 2006. We have been working on our second floor to expand our displays. In 2006, the walls were studded and insulation and wiring added. The 12 second floor windows were replaced in 2008 with new display areas created on this floor. 2010 will bring another large update, with the current basement and second floor stairway being replaced and a stair lift being added to allow access to all individuals.

Our collections are donated items from many local individuals and businesses. Each item has been numbered and preserved by the Curator of the Historical Society and is logged as to by whom and what was given. We currently have 193 members, and yearly dues are $5.00 per person per year.

The Quasqueton Schoolhouse Bell now stands on our north lawn with a flagpole that was donated in memory of Norris and Lucille Freebern in the Spring of 2004. The American Flag that was donated when the Quasqueton school building closed in
2003 will fly on special occasions.

Fundraisers have helped us financially, as well as a great number of memorials from our older citizens, graduates of our school, and younger interested individuals. Our annual Fish Fry will be held August 18, 2012. Please plan to attend.
