• Jersey Joe Walcott won the heavyweight title in 1951 only after losing two title bouts to Joe Louis and two to Ezzard Charles
• After retiring from the being a boxer, Jersey Joe Walcott organized youth programs and served as a sheriff and athletic commissioner in New Jersey.

• Joe Jersey Walcott was honored for the oldest (37) heavyweight champion .
• He won the heavyweight title in 1951.
