Location: Mount McKinley is located in South Central Alaska, in the Alaska Range.
Absolute Location: Mount McKinley is located at 63 degrees North and 151 degrees West.
My Place is Famous for: Mount McKinley is famous for being the tallest mountain in North America. It is also the perfect symbol for the United States, because it is the highest mountain in North America.
Description: It's base is nearly sea level and its summit at 20,320 feet. It is also said to have one of the earth's steepest vertical rises. It also has the name Denali that the Athanbaskan Indians of Interior Alasaka meaning "The High One."
Interesting Facts:
1.) Each person that decides to climb Mount McKinley is to pay $150.
2.) The mountain was named after the President William McKinley.
3.) The coldest weather on Mt. Mckinley is found from November to April. The average is -30 degrees F to -70 degrees F.
4.) The first climbers to climb Mount McKinley were Hudson Stuck, Harry Karstens, W. Harper,and R. Tatum. They climbed it in 1913.
5.) If you ever wanted to climb Mount McKinley the best months to climb it would be April, May, and June.
