I picked Fanny Brice because she was a famous comedian. A lot of times my friends think I am funny. She inspired me because when she started performing she was only 14 years old.

Fanny’s original name was Fanny Borach. As a child she sang and danced in her father's saloon, and at age 13, after winning an amateur contest, she sang and played the piano in a movie theater.Brice’s sense of humor made her into her act early on.

In 1910 she was asked by Max Speigel to be in the College Girls, a major New York theater, and also to do a benefit he was producing. Sinse it was an important job she asked Irving Berlin to write her some songs. One of them was “ Sadie Salome, Go Home”, which later became a Brice trademark. It was about a Jewish girl who was an actress. It fit Fanny perfect because she comes from a Jewish background.

Brice was later awarded a job on broadway. This was the beginning of an association between the famous impresario and the talented comedienne that would last for 14 years. In 1911 she left New York. Then she created two new characters, which became her Hallmarks: the “Vamp” and the “Dancer”. After the tour she appeared as a major attraction in two important theaters: the Victorian in Times Square and the Victoria Palace in London.

In 1916 she retired from Ziegfeild Follies with her popular skit, “The Blushing Bride.” She remained with Ziegfeild until 1924.

She was known to be one of the best comediennes on broadway. Although she was an attractive and graceful women offstage. She would do anything to make her audience laugh. She would even laugh at her own sentiments. Such as when she sang “ You Made Me Love You” she kicked her heals, winked her eyes and lifted her skirt to make people laugh.

In 1924 after she had left Ziegfeld she returned to Vaudeville for a time. She appeared in the leading role of “My Man” and then appeared in “Babyskins”. Which was about a three year old in a high chair. This was another starting point for a character “Baby Snooks.”
Due to illnesses she left broadway and went to Los Angeles, were she made a few film appererences, including MGM’s . She also immortalized “Baby Snooks” during her 10 year radio series.

Later in life she found a interest in interior decorating. She had two children William and Frances. She then died of a cerebral hemorrhage, at the age of
59.
