Helen Hayes

I chose Helen Hayes because I knew that she was a great actress, and she inspired a lot of people.

Birth: October 10, 1900 Parents: Francis Brown Hayes and Catherine Estelle Hayes Education: Academy of the Sacred Heart Convent Death: March 17, 1993 Honors and Awards: Oscar for Best Actress, Drama League of New York Medal, Finnish Medal of the Arts, the United Service Organization nominated her Woman of the Year, Tony Award, and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She also had two theaters named after her: New York CityÕs Fulton Theater, and BroadwayÕs Little Theater.

Helen started her stage career when she was five. She started in New York with Law Fields in a musical comedy in 1909. Her most famous performance was when she played the role of Queen Victoria in Victoria Regins. This is the performance that she won the Drama League of New York Medal for the most distinguished performance of the year

Helen married the play writer Charles MacArthur in 1926. They had two children. A daughter named Mary, and a son named James. Charles died in 1956.

Helen died from heart failure. As a tribute to her for being one of AmericaÕs greatest actresses, BroadwayÕs lights went dim for a minute the day that she died.

Helen is most remembered for her great acting abilities, and the many awards she won. I think that she had a major impact on on a lot of people. I think that she inspired a lot of actresses. She was a great actress, and she will be remembered by many.
