The Argentina flag was adopted in 1816. The flag was designed in 1812 by General Manuel Belgrano. He chose the colors from the cockade of the liberation army's uniform. The sun, May, on the flag represents the sun as seen on May 25, 1810 when the Independence demonstrations began.
