Anne Bradstreet-
Anne Badstreet was one of the first English Poets to write in the Americas. She wrote about the puritans and the things that went on during her time.

Benjamin Franklin- An English colonist and inventor who came from poverty. He was a great leader and and a successful inventor. He had the idea behind the Albany Plan of Union.

Duke of York-The brother of Charles II, who drove Peter Stuyvesant out of New Netherlands. He later named it New York.

Eliza Lucas-
Eliza Lucas was a planter who had a major impact on the southern colonies. She experimented with indigo and it became and important crop of the south.

George Washington-
George Washington was a surveyor of West Virginia. He also led a fight with the French at Fort Necessity but failed.

Jean Baptiste de Bienville-
Jean was a French explorer, Governor of Louisiana, and founded New Orleans. He also explored the delta of the Mississippi.

John Rofle-John Rofle was one of the colonists in James Town colony he was a farmer at the times when peace with Indians had formed. Later on the colonists kept pushing into Indian territory to get land the Indians weren't so happy except Pochahontas which John Rofle later on married John Rofle and moved back to England.

John Smith-John Smith was an English Explorer who founded the first permanent English Colony, Jamestown. He was a great Governor to the Plymouth Colony this is because he straightened out the gentlemen that participated in this colony.

John Winthrop-He was the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He moved the capitol from Salem to Boston. Winthrop was big on Puritan beliefs and under his leadership the colony prospered.

John Woolman-A white leader against slavery. He was born in 1720. He taught that slaves had "liberty and freedom as their right."

Johnathan Edwards-Johnathan Edwards was on of the main religious leaders of the Great Awakening.

Lord Baltimore-His real name was Cecilius Calvert. Calvert was the first proprietor of Maryland. He created the colony as a refuge for Catholics, yet he never went there himself.

Nathaniel Bacon-Was a wealthy landowner, who sided with the farmers when they were in hard times against a governor. He led a rebellion against that governor and forced him to flee. The British army soon took order and hanged Bacon and nineteen of his followers.

La Salle -
La Salle was an explorer who led expeditions along the Mississippi river and claimed land for France. He also named Louisiana and found the mouth of the Mississippi.

Olaudah Equiano- A black man who was taken from his home in Africa to work as a slave. He bought his freedom and wrote a very strong story about being in slavery.

William Pitt-William was the founder of the Rhode Island Colony. He was also a important peace maker among the Indians and the colonists. He was also a interpreter.

Squanto-was a interpreter that was somehow taken to England. He came back with the Newfoundland company and joined the Plymouth Colony.

William Bradford-One of the Pilgrim fathers and Governor of Plymouth Colony from 1621 until he died in 1665. Bradford wrote The History of Plymouth Plantation. He was known for his patience, foresight, and determination.

William Penn-He was a Great Hero of Liberty During the late seventeenth century when protestants persecuted Catholics, Catholics persecuted Protestants, and both persecuted quakers and Jews he established an American Sanctuary. Penn usually traveled unharmed by Indians but others were attacked and killed. He negotiated peaceful purchases and trades with Indians. He deserved that men and women had equal rights.
