Size: 155.557 million sq. km the average depth of the Pacific Ocean is 1400 feet .

Discovered by: Fernand Magellan.

Interesting information:

  • There is a zone of volcanoes and earthquakes which is sometimes called the “Ring of Fire.
  • The Pacific Ocean has a line of tropical cyclones from May to December in southeast Asia.
  • The Pacific Ocean has a variation of life-forms from microscopic plankton to whales up to 100 feet long.
  • If you tried to put all the continents into the Pacific Ocean and succeeded you would still have room for another Asia.
  • Sometime during the year there is a string of four trade winds “wind belts.” they all go steadily along the equator.
