Location
It connects with the Gulf of Aden in the south. It divides the Gulfs of Suez and Aquaba in the north. It divides Africa and Russia.

Size
The Red Sea is very narrow. It is 1,450 mi. (2,330) long and up to 225 mi. (362) wide. It’s overall area is about 326,250 sq.. mi..



Name
Normally the Red Sea is blue-green, but occasionally, however, it is populated by extensive blooms of the algae that when dying off turn red and make the sea look red.



Interesting Information.

  • The Red Sea contains some of the most saltiest sea water.
  • The Red Sea is one of the most traveled waterways in the world.
  • The sea receives very little rain.
