Location: The Mediterranean Sea is situated between Europe to the north, Africa to the south, Asia to the east, and Atlantic Ocean to the west.

Size: The Mediterranean Sea covers an area of about 970,000 miles.

Interesting information:

  • The Mediterranean Sea is connected to the Black and Red Sea.

  • The ocean floor is made up of lime, clay, sand, and under this is mud.

  • Its major source of fresh water comes from the Atlantic Ocean.

    Depth: The Sea’s greatest recorded depth is 16,800 feet below sea level.
