Introduction

This is my brief introductory knowledge on former President Ronald Reagan. First of all I knew he was the 40th president but I didn’t know why he was so famous among all of the presidents; now we are going to learn why.

Facts in Brief

Birth:
February 6, 1911

Parents: John Edward, Roman catholic

Death: Still alive

Education: Highest education received at Eureka College with a Bachelor’s Degree

Nationality: Scottish-Protestant

Early Careers

Reagan’s first early job was a sports announcer for WOL radio in Davenport, IA. Later on, in his career Brothers Studios signed him for a film as a radio announcer in Love Is On Air. This sparked his career in filming; he stared in fifty other top notch films.

Ronald Reagan arrived on the political scene in 1964 with a T.V. address to revive Senator Barry Goldwater’s campaign for presidency. After the speech a group of business men suggested he run for governor. Reagan captured the republican nomination for governor in 1966, with 64.7% of the votes. Reagan later became governor of California.

Later on, being governor inspired him to run for president; the Bush Reagan campaign won making Ronald president and George W. Bush vice president. During his term at presidency he was trying his best to end the Cold War and towards the heat of the war he made a deal with Gorbachev the Soviet leader; the agreement was that each country would cut weapon arsenals by 50%. To announce this to the soviets and U.S. residents Gorbachev aired on U.S. T.V. and Reagan on Soviet T.V.

Ending of Cold War

After this Cold War ended there was an assassination attempt on Reagan; one shot fired at Reagan but one CIA agent pushed him out of the way and took the bullet for him. Ronald Reagan is currently alive and married to Nancy Reagan his former crush during his movie career, and currently has four children.

Another famous moment he had was the result in college students applying for the Vietnam War, thus this was making wasteful uses for college education. Now Reagan decreased funding to Universities through out the world by 27% and fired the president of Berkeley for his speech on more funding.

Impact Upon Reagan

I feel the impact Ronald Reagan had on the twentieth century was great and inspiring. He ended the Cold War bringing greatness and no more fear of Russian threat, and how he made his way to presidency becoming the 40th president.
